We give annually, generously, carefully and respectfully.

Since the first grant 30 years ago, it is the donor’s vision and wishes that are at the heart of every grant made through The Community Foundation Martin – St. Lucie.

Donor Advised Fund Grants

Grants are made to charitable organizations through an established designated or donor advised fund.  These grants are directed by the expressed wishes of the fund holders.

Donors participate in grant making by suggesting charitable organizations to receive gifts. The Community Foundation serves as a personal philanthropy advisor by assisting donors with receiving and evaluating grant requests and connecting donors with potential grant recipients.

Field of Interest and Unrestricted Funds

Grant awards may be made at the discretion of the Board from established Field of Interest and/or Unrestricted Funds.

  • Field of Interest Funds: Allow donors to support a broad area of need such as the arts, elderly, prenatal care, at-risk youth, etc., with The Community Foundation selecting specific grant recipients.
  • Unrestricted Funds: Donors leave decisions about the charitable use of funds to the Community Foundation. These funds are flexible and responsive to emerging and changing community needs.

Competitive Grant Process

Grants are awarded on an annual basis from the Frances Langford Fund for Martin County.

Grant priorities are announced in early fall of each year and grant priorities are announced. Requests are reviewed by the Grants Committee, which is comprised of community leaders and currently chaired by a Foundation board member. After a rigorous review process and site visits, the Grants Committee makes formal recommendations to the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
