$303,620 from Frances Langford Fund divided between 7 Martin County nonprofits | May 10, 2018

The Frances Langford Fund for Martin County will award grants totaling $303,620 to seven local nonprofits to fund programs in 2018 and 2019, according to the Martin County Community Foundation.

The largest grant of $100,000 will go to Martin County HUGS, a new joint project of Alzheimer’s Community Care and Council on Aging of Martin County that will seek to make Martin County a dementia friendly community through a broad based public awareness and education campaign that will involve varied sectors, from law enforcement to retail.

Built in 1925 as the then-new subdivision’s sales office, the Golden Gate Center has had a few lives, and now is starting another.

“Through the efforts of many, it has become a model and an inspiration, bringing renewed respect and pride” to Golden Gate and Martin County.

It was smiles all around as members of the Emeritus Board and Grants Committee of the Martin County Community Foundation Board awarded its prestigious Frances Langford Fund grants.Checks totaling more than $311,000 were awarded to five Stuart-based non-profits that were selected from those that applied for the grants.
